Canon – The Fotobug https://thefotobug.net The Fotobug Video Blog & Ezine Mon, 08 Jun 2020 23:30:59 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=4.8.24 49201773 7D Mirror Slow Motion Capture https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/7d-mirror-slow-motion-capture/ https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/7d-mirror-slow-motion-capture/#respond Sat, 31 Jan 2015 14:25:52 +0000 http://thefotobug.net/?post_type=videos&p=3355 The Slow Mo Guys – record slow motion videos. In a recent episode they use a Phantom Flex Camera to capture the Canon 7D’s mirror box and shutter mechanism being triggered at a variety of shutter speeds (1/4000s, 1/8000s, etc). The footage itself was recorded at 10,000fps, and the result is a look at a shutter and mirror box in action – something that would otherwise be nearly invisible to the naked eye.

Also check out what they have done to that poor Canon 7D!

Canon low light video https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/canon-low-light-video/ https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/canon-low-light-video/#respond Thu, 19 Sep 2013 17:26:21 +0000 http://thefotobug.net/?post_type=videos&p=1533 Canon set its sights on the Yaeyama-hime fireflies on Ishigaki Island off the coast of Japan. Shortly after sundown, the Canon team managed to capture a forest full of lightning bugs in full HD in near-dark settings.  Yes, those little flashing lights are actually fireflies imaged in HD with the new 35mm low-light sensor that Canon is developing!   Who needs lights to make videos?!

5D MKIII Autofocusing Options https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/5d-mkiii-autofocusing-options/ https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/5d-mkiii-autofocusing-options/#comments Wed, 17 Apr 2013 14:04:19 +0000 http://thefotobug.net/?post_type=videos&p=1360 Recently one of our viewers asked for information about focusing options for the new Canon 5D MKIII.  I have this camera myself and it contains the same focus electronics as its big brother, the Canon 1Dx.  It simply lacks the additional processing chip, but has a complex range of focus options that can be selected for most any given photographic situation.  This video demonstrates one groups opinions on optimizing the focus selections.

This is episode six of our geeking out on gear series. This time we discuss the Canon 5D Mark III (3) Auto Focusing Options and Point Selections.

Feel free to ask questions here – everything in the video is simply from our own impressions & opinions.

This video was recorded with a 5d3.

Canon 7D Durability Test https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/canon-7d-durability-test/ https://thefotobug.net/blog/videos/canon-7d-durability-test/#respond Tue, 19 Feb 2013 03:13:07 +0000 http://thefotobug.net/?post_type=videos&p=926 7d-fire

Just how durable is the Canon 7d?  Well, here is an extreme test via drops, bangs, kicks, fire and ice!  DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME!

However, if anyone of our readers/viewers would like to donate their camera for our own durability testing, we would be more than happy to oblige!  Mine has been back to Canon twice for repairs and it hasn’t been through 1% of what this poor camera experienced.
