Photographer/videomaker Mathew Vandeputte has come up with a very interesting technique to create a vortex star trail as described in this video. The technique requires Lightroom, Photoshop, After Effects and Starstax – but if you are a full Creative Cloud subscriber, you will have access to all of these except for Starstax. Hidden Camera Timelapse

A dutch designer hid a camera inside a parcel and shipped it off to see what steps and how many people were involved in the package delivery. The little camera was 3mp and the photographer, Ruben van der Vleuten, also built an arduino based circuit to fire the camera and shipped the package to himself. A small hole was cut into the side of the package for the camera’s lens to see through. After the package arrived, he created a timelapse of the captured images.

What happens when you send something by mail? What happens in between you sending it off and someone else receiving it? What people and processes are involved and how many steps does it take?

Those all were questions I was dealing with and wanted to find out. So instead of sitting back I started a simple project to actually see it myself. I put a small camera in a box, build a timer circuit using Arduino and shipped it.

We recently mentioned this video and project on our podcast and so now it can see it for yourself!

Hyperlapse created with Google Street View

This is really cool – Teehan + Lax has come up with a program that allows you to take street view images from Google maps and create a “Hyperlapse” time-lapse video. Best of all, the program is offered free!

The results are pretty spectacular, and the free online tool allows you to create a hyperlapse video showing transit between any two points in Google Maps. While the video is playing, you can pan around the view just as you would when using Google Street View in its conventional mode. The default controls are minimal (and by default, the hyperlapses rush between points A and B very very quickly), but the source code for this tool is available on GitHub, allowing developers to experiment with things such as different frame rates.
