Eric Curry is an american photographer who also is well-known for light painting. Mr. Curry takes an approach very similar to Harold Ross, in that he takes multiple exposures, then assembles them later in Photoshop. Eric has a book available on light painting and this video demonstrates how he created the Airstream trailer light painting that is featured in his book.

iPad Light Painting

What a fascinating and interesting use of the iPad tablet for photography. As the filmmakers explain:

This film explores playful uses for the increasingly ubiquitous ‘glowing rectangles’ that inhabit the world.

We use photographic and animation techniques that were developed to draw moving 3-dimensional typography and objects with an iPad. In dark environments, we play movies on the surface of the iPad that extrude 3-d light forms as they move through the exposure. Multiple exposures with slightly different movies make up the stop-frame animation.
